In his first action of the season, Briar Cliff all-American Julian Gunnels went 4-0 and won the 133-pound title at the Dakota Wesleyan Open, which was held at the Christen Family Wellness Center on the DWU campus. With his finish, Gunnels punched his ticket to nationals in his first opportunity. Also qualifying for nationals were 125-pounder Sam Vice and 165-pounder Sammy Johnson. Vice went 2-1, while Johnson went 3-3. Both wrestlers finished sixth at their weight class and recorded one pin on the day.
