The Briar Cliff softball team was picked eighth in the 2014 GPAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. In 2013, head coach Michelle Schaper led the Chargers to an overall record of 12-20 and 8-12 in league play as BC went 5-5 at home, 5-8 on the road and 2-7 in neutral field games. Hastings has been dubbed the favorite to win the GPAC in 2014 with six first place votes and 95 points. Morningside is second with four first place votes and 91 points while Midland is third with one first place vote and 75 points. Northwestern and Doane complete the top five with 73 points and 69 points respectively. Rounding out the top 10 is Nebraska Wesleyan, Concordia, Briar Cliff, Dakota Wesleyan and Dordt while Mount Marty finishes the poll at 11th.
