Alisha Knowler is in her first year as Briar Cliff's competitive dance coach and cheer advisor. Knowler came to Briar Cliff after serving as an assistant at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, for the 2010-11 school year. She helped to lead the team to a first place finish in Pom and a second place finish in Jazz at the collegiate state competition and guided them on to a second place finish at regionals and a fourth place finish at nationals.
The 2011 Grand View graduate was a four-year member of the varsity dance team at Grand View, serving as team captain, senior year. In her final year, Knowler led the Vikings to a double first place finish (Jazz & Pom) at state. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Wellness Management. While at Grand View, she served as a substitute fitness specialist for Take Care Health Systems at Wells Fargo. Knowler prepped at Southeast Polk High School, where shewas a member of the Southeast Polk RhythAMette Dance Team and served as team captain, senior year. She also danced at the Pat Barton Dance Studio from the age of three through graduation.
Knowler will spend the 2011-12 academic year serving as the school's dance coach and cheerleading advisor (both at the club level). She will then begin recruiting for the fall of 2012 when dance will become a varsity sport at Briar Cliff University.
