The Briar Cliff University men's basketball program is pleased to announce that Wyatt Henkenius, of Bridgewater, Iowa, has committed to play for the Chargers, next season.

"We are pleased to have Wyatt join our basketball program at Briar Cliff. Wyatt is a terrific student with a very bright future, and he's also a talented basketball player," stated Briar Cliff head coach Nic Nelson. "He can score in a variety of ways from the wing, both inside and outside. He'll be a great fit in the program."

The 6-4 guard from Corning High School paces the team this season with 18.2 ppg and 7.9 rpg. He leads the Red Raiders with 36 assists and 16 blocked shots, while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from three-point land. As a junior, Henkenius averaged 20.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg, and earned third team all-state, first team all-Western Iowa, and first team Pride of Iowa All-Conference honors. Henkenius was a nine-time varsity letterwinner for the Red Raiders, earning four in basketball, two each in football and track and one in golf.

The son of John and Lisa Henkenius is a straight "A" student, president of the National Honor Society and also a member of Corning's Honor Roll. The multi-sport academic all-conference selection was also involved with Math Olympiad, Chemistry Olympiad and Quiz Bowl. Henkenius plans on pursuing a degree in physical therapy at Briar Cliff.
