Alexia Henschke

Alexia Henschke, of Pender, Neb., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Chargers next year. She will also run track for the Blue and Gold. 
 
"We are excited to have Lexi join our program," said Briar Cliff head coach Mike Power. "She brings great athletic ability and will fit our system very well."
 
The 5-5 guard earned 12 varisty letters for the Pendragons of Pender High School (four each in basketball, track and golf).  This top scorer and many time player of the game averages 13.6 ppg. She adds to her stats 4 rpg, and 3 apg. Henschke averages 4spg which lead her to break the record for steals at Pender three consecutive years. As a Sophomore she made 1st team all conference, as well as the conference's all Defensive Team, and All Area Honorable Mention as well as team MVP. As a Junior she broke the school record for most 3 pointers scored per game. She also made 2nd Team All Conference. She made the Elite 8 All Area 1st Team, D-1 All Tournament Team, State Tournament Scoring Leader, landing a spot in the All State Tournament Top Ten Leading Scorers. She was also awarded NE State Tournament "Star of the Game" as well as "Player of the Game". She was also a member of  the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star All State 2nd team.
 
Lexi has also competed and done well in track. As a Sophomore she was a state qualifier in the 300m Hurdles and and MVP. She again qualified for state in the 300m Hurdles as a Junior. She also tied the 300m Hurdles record at her high school. She also qualified for state in the 4x1 Relay.
 
Aside from athletics, Henschke is on the honor holl and active in One Act Plays, musicals and art. She is also a member of the student council, National Honor Society and Future Farmers of America. Lexi is also active in St. John's Catholic CYO.
 
Lexi is the daughter of Tony and Alexia Henschke and plans to major in enviromental science and biology at Briar Cliff.
