Zach Boness, of Alliance, Neb., has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Briar Cliff University, next year.

"We are very pleased to have Zach join our basketball family," said Briar Cliff Head Coach Todd Barry.  "He is a great scorer and a very active player.  With hard work, he will have an outstanding college career."

The 6-6 Boness was a four-time basketball letterwinner for the Bulldogs of Alliance and a two-time all-state selection.  He earned second team all-state as a senior and honorable mention all-state as a junior.  He led the team in rebounding for three years and scoring for two years.  He was twice named the team's MVP.  As a senior, he led Nebraska's Class B in scoring and was named regional player of the year, first team all-region, all-conference and all-district.  He was also tabbed the A-Club's Male Athlete of the Year after averaging 20.8 ppg and 6.2 rpg.  As a junior, he was named all-conference and third team all-region.  As a sophomore, he led the team in rebounding and was named its most improved player.  Boness finished his career with 1,035 points and 481 rebounds.   

Aside from basketball, Boness also played football for the Bulldogs.  The academic all-state selection and honor roll member was active in his church and youth group.  The son of Brett and Teresa Boness plans to major in business administration or education with a coaching endorsement.
