CENTRAL LYON'S KOREY MCDONALD SIGNS WITH BRIAR CLIFF
Briar Cliff University and men's basketball coach Todd Barry have announced a new addition to the team for the 2008-09 academic year. Korey McDonald, a senior at Central Lyon High School in Rock Rapids, Iowa, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at the Sioux City, Iowa university.
"Korey has been a very successful four-sport athlete at Central Lyon," said Barry. "We look for great improvement when he focuses on basketball here at Briar Cliff."
The 5-11 McDonald averaged 9.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg for the Lions as a senior. He also dished out 59 assists and collected 14 steals. He owns school records for steals in a season (65, 2006-07) and steals in a career (215). In his four years at Central Lyon, he also handed out 279 assists, which places him second best all-time.
At Central Lyon, McDonald was under the direction of head coach Shawn DeStigter. McDonald is the son of John and Polly McDonald of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
