Garretson's Mary Schotzko has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Briar Cliff University next year. 

Schotzko earned 12 varsity letters for the Blue Dragons of Garretson (five in track, three each in softball and volleyball and one in basketball).  The softball team captain was a two-time team MVP and all-state selection.  She earned the Coaches Award in softball as a sophomore.  In track, she won conference in the shotput as a senior and finished second as state.  She finished second in the conference in the event as both a sophomore and junior.  The 5-6 Schotzko finished her career second on the school's all-time shotput chart and third on the discus chart.  In volleyball, she was three-time honorable mention all-conference selection and served as a team captain as a senior.  She was also the recipient of the team's Miss Hustle Award, senior year.      

Aside from athletics, the National Honor Society and honor roll member was involved in choir, band, one acts, three acts, FCA and Teens Against Tobacco Use.  The daughter of Dennis and Pat Schotzko of Garretson, S.D., plans to major in graphic design and business at Briar Cliff.
