Barry McArdle - Head Coach
Barry McArdle is in his second year as Briar Cliff University's women's tennis coach. McArdle was hired in late spring of 2005 to guide the first year program. McArdle has been involved with sport of tennis on several levels. He started the tennis program at Fontbonne College in St. Louis and coached there for two years. He actively participates in the sport as well, capturing the gold medal in singles at the 2003 Iowa Games and the gold medal in doubles at the 2005 games. Aside from coaching tennis, McArdle also has experience coaching rowing and basketball. At Washington College in Maryland, he served as head men's and women 's rowing coach for four years and junior varsity basketball coach for one year.

While serving as the Dean of Students (1976-83) at Fontbonne, McArdle helped the school to establish an athletic program. McArdle has been at Briar Cliff since 2001. Prior to coming to Briar Cliff, McArdle served as the Dean of Student Development at Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky., from 1985-2001. McArdle has served in numerous higher learning capacities since earning his bachelor's degree from THe Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and his master's from Pennsylvania State University. He earned his doctorate from Vanderbilt University. McArdle has also been active in both professional organizations and community service opportunities. In Sioux City, he serves as a director of the Headid Little League and as chairperson of the Citizens Advisory Board. McArdle currently serves as the vice president for senior programs at the Center for Siouxland.
