Head Coach- 9th Season
The 2017 season will be Michelle Schaper's ninth year as the head coach of the BCU softball program.  Schaper has helped the Chargers compile a 126-187 record through her first seven seasons. Schaper guided her squad to a 17-27 finish overall while going 6-16 in GPAC games in 2016. 
 
Schaper came to Briar Cliff from William Woods University, where she has served as an assistant coach since 2005. During her three seasons as an assistant coach, the Owls produced a mark of 110-49 with a national tournament berth in 2006. Schaper joined the Owls' coaching staff after a four-year playing career at William Woods. She finished her career with 235 hits, 169 runs, 43 doubles, 18 homeruns, 164 RBI and a batting average of .351. Schaper was a four-time all-conference selection and a three-time all-region choice. In 2003, she earned NAIA All-America second team honors and was the AMC Player of the Year. She helped the Owls to a four-year record of 148-82 and into NAIA Tournament pool play, senior year. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in athletic training from William Woods in 2005 and recently attained her master's of education degree in athletic administration and activities.
 
Aside from assisting at the college level, Schaper has also served as the head softball coach at North Callaway High School for the past two seasons. Her squads produced a two-year record of 45-7 and finished second at the 2007 Missouri 3A State Softball Championships. In her free time, Schaper does regular community service in the Sioux City metro area.

Grad Assistant- 2nd Season

Alison Wickwire is in her second season as graduate assistant for the Briar Cliff softball program. Wickwire makes the transition from player to coach after finishing a four-year career at Alfred University, a NCAA Division III school in Alfred, New York. She had a stellar season for the Saxons as a senior, hitting .372 with 17 homers, 52 RBI and 35 runs scored. Wickwire also holds the career homerun record with 27 and is in the top 10 in 11 categories in the Alfred record books. As a senior, Wickwire was named to the 2015 NCAA Division III Softball College World Series All-Tournament Team and was an NFCA Second Team All-American. She was also named NCAA Division III Championships Alfred Regional Most Outstanding Player and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Wickwire was also an Empire 8 All-Conference first team selection. She also pitched for the Saxons and notched a personal record of 13-4 last season with 108 strikeouts, three shutouts and an ERA of 3.08. Wickwire received a bachelors degree in biology and psychology at Alfred and will pursue her masters in health care administration and BCU.

Wickwire is a native of Towanda, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Towanda Area High School. She was a first team All-Northern Tier League selection as a junior and senior and was named honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore.
