Darron Koolstra joined the Briar Cliff University Men's Golf program in 2010. Koolstra brings with him a wealth of coaching knowledge. While most of his experience was at the high school level, he did direct the Briar Cliff University Men's and Women's Golf programs for one year.  Most recently, he coached the Bishop Heelan High School girls' basketball team to the 3A state championship in 2010. Prior to that, he served as an assistant basketball coach at North High School for 11 years. In addition, Koolstra was named the 3A Coach of the Year by the Iowa Girls Coaches' Association. He also had coaching stints at George Little Rock and South Sioux City high schools.

The Little Rock Iowa native went on to play golf at Westmar University. Koolstra earned his degree in Physical Education in 1993.

Koolstra, who is self employed, has two children, Taylor and Riley.
