2009 Softball Coaches
Michelle Schaper - Head Coach
Michelle Schaper is in her first year as the head coach of the BCU softball program.  Schaper came to Briar Cliff from William Woods University, where she has served as an assistant coach since 2005. During her three seasons as an assistant coach, the Owls produced a mark of 110-49 with a national tournament berth in 2006. Schaper joined the Owls' coaching staff after a four-year playing career at William Woods. She finished her career with 235 hits, 169 runs, 43 doubles, 18 homeruns, 164 RBI and a batting average of .351. Schaper was a four-time all-conference selection and a three-time all-region choice. In 2003, she earned NAIA All-America second team honors. She helped the Owls to a four-year record of 148-82 and into NAIA Tournament pool play, senior year. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in athletic training from William Woods in 2005 and recently attained her master's of education degree in athletic administration and activities.
 
Aside from assisting at the college level, Schaper has also served as the head softball coach at North Callaway High School for the past two seasons. Her squads produced a two-year record of 45-7 and finished second at the 2007 Missouri 3A State Softball Championships.
 
Arynn Rasmussen - Assistant Coach
Arynn Rasmussen is in her first year as an assistant coach with the Briar Cliff softball program. She will serve as the Chargers' pitching coach.
 
Rasmussen also teaches at West High School and serves as an assistant softball coach at Hinton High School.  Prior to coaching at Hinton, she served as the head softball coach at Dakota Valley for two years.  Rasmussen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Morningside in 2005.  The four-year letterwinner posted a 12-18 career record on the mound for the Mustangs with a 4.42 earned run average. She also registered a .251 career batting average with 13 doubles, two triples, five home runs, and 36 RBI.

Rasmussen was a 2001 graduate of Irwin-Kirkman-Manilla High School, where she was a five-year letterwinner in softball. The four-time all-stater finished her prep career with a career pitching record of 114-55 with a 1.12 career ERA. She struck out more than 750 batters. Offensively, she hit a career .336 batting average with over 40 doubles, 13 homeruns and 118 RBI.
