Damon Clayborne Image
Damon Clayborne - Head Coach - 6th Season
Damon Clayborne is in his sixth year as the Chargers' head wrestling coach. He came to Briar Cliff after serving as an assistant wrestling coach at West High School for three years.
 
He founded the Team Predators Wrestling Club in the winter of 2005 and has coached within the club since. He also co-founded the Wolverine Wildcats Wrestling Club in the winter of 2002.
 
The 2000 Briar Cliff graduate attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO) and Westmar before coming to Briar Cliff. He was a member of UNO's, Westmar's and Briar Cliff's wrestling programs.
 
Aside from coaching at Briar Cliff, the Sioux City native currently teaches ESL at North Middle School in Sioux City. Clayborne, his wife Tiffany, and their three sons (Deion, Kobe and Kason) reside in Sioux City.
 
Curt Langley - Assistant Coach - 2nd Season
Curt Langley is in his second year as an assistant with the Charger wrestling program.  Langley came to BCU after serving as an assistant coach at Heelan High School for one year. He also coached for 13 years within the Sergeant Bluff Saints Wrestling Club. The 1987 Heelan graduate was a walk-on at Arizona State University.
 
Langley and his three sons, Jordan, Hunter and Shyler, reside in Sioux City.
Julian Gunnels - Student Assistant
Gunnels is in his first year as a student coach for the chargers wrestling program. Prior to this season, Gunnels wrestled for the chargers in 2007-08 and 2008-09.  Gunnels was a 2x All-American for the chargers, placing 4th in 2007-08 and then placing the highest placement in charger wrestling history with a 3rd place finish in 2008-09. In his prep years Gunnels was also a class 2-A Missouri State Champion for the cowboys of Platte County High School.
James Shrader - Student Assistant
Shrader is in his first year as a student coach for the chargers wrestling prorgam. Prior to this season Shrader spent two years as president and wrestler/coach for Central Washington University's club wrestling team, before leaving CWU to come here and finish his last two years wrestling for the chargers.
