The Chargers were so close they could taste it. The team was just over five minutes from its first victory since 2006, as they led Dana, 15-3, late in the fourth quarter. Then the Vikings capitalized on a pair of BCU fumbles to score twice in the final 5:14.  A last minute drive by the Chargers stalled out just across midfield as the Vikings defeated the Chargers, 17-15. Somehow, the Vikings overcame five turnovers, including an interceptionthat BCU's Cecil Milton returned for a 88-yard score in the third quarter. TheVikings produced 508 total yards of offense, compared to just 201 for the Chargers. The Chargers rushed for 102 yards, led by David Shepard's 63 yards on 15 carries. Kyle Gerdes was 10-20 for 99 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown strike to Luke Roder in the first quarter. Roder finished with team-highs of three receptions and 41 receiving yards. The Charger defense held the Dana rushing attack in check, holding it to 76 yards on 27 carries. For the second game in-a-row, Jarrod Makovicka led the BCU defense with 14 tackles, including eight solos. The Chargers will bring an 0-2 record into Saturday's home-opener against Hastings.
