The Vikings of Grand View capitalized on three plays of 30-plus yards to defeat Briar Cliff, 20-17, in a football contest in Des Moines, Iowa.  For Grand View, it was the program's first win in its first attempt.    The Chargers opened the scoring with a 27-yard field goal by Kevin Johnson.  The Chargers eventually trailed 7-6 at the break and took a 9-6 lead on Johnson's third field goal of the game halfway through the third quarter.  Grand View responded with a 50-yard touchdown run less than two minutes later.  The Chargers, under the direction of Ryan Hajek, then marched down the field to the Vikings' 13-yard line.  Trailing 13-9, it looked as if the Chargers would find the endzone and regain the lead.  Palmer Quentin then intercepted Hajek and took it 89 yards for a score.  The Chargers pulled closer with :03 left in the game as Kyle Gerdes found Luke Roder in the corner of the endzone.  Gerdes then completed the two-point conversion to Julian Lee.  Gerdes finished the day 6-13 for 68 yards and a score.  Hajek was 8-21 for 64 yards.  Leading the Chargers on the ground was David Shepard, who finished with 35 yards on 22 carries.  Jarrod Makovicka led the Chargers' defense with nine tackles, eight of which were unassisted.  The Chargers, now 0-1, will play at Dana, a week from today.  (Boxscore)
