Sophomore Parker Staroscik was the hero for the Chargers as he scored on an assist from senior Andrew Smith in overtime as the Chargers edged the Mustangs of Mount Mercy, 2-1.   
Mount Mercy scored first and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.  Smith evened things up 13 minutes into the second half on a assist from senior Alex Witmer.  The game would remain deadlocked through the end of regulation and through the first five minutes of overtime.
 
The Chargers outshot the Mustangs on goal in the season-opener for both teams, 18-14.  Each team registered 20 total shots in the contest.  Junior Kyle King earned the win in goal for the Chargers after making 13 saves.
