The Briar Cliff women's soccer team opened the 2010 season with a 5-1 loss at Mount Mercy, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  The Mustangs scored four unanswered goals after BCU freshman Kindra Sanchez scored to tie the game at 1-1 just two minutes into the contest.   
The Mustangs outshot the Chargers, 19-18, but posted a 12-7 advantage in shots on goal.  Sanchez made the most of her opportunities, scoring on her only shot of the contest.  Macjenzie Skay and Kandice Kiernan scored two goals apiece to pace Mount Mercy.
 
BCU junior Jackie Sayasone, playing in place of injured netminder Asia Lahn, made seven saves in the contest.  Jerica Christensen earned the win in goal for the Mustangs after collecting six saves.
 
With the win, Mount Mercy improved to 1-0, while Briar Cliff is 0-1.
