Briar Cliff University wrestling coach Joe Privitere has announced the signing of 2010 Daily Sentinel Wrestler of the Year Devin DeRocher.
"We are excited to have Devin join our program and look forward to him being a part of the program for the next four years."
The 5-5 DeRocher was a four-time wrestling letterwinner for the Blackhawks of Hinton Community High School. During his career, he compiled an overall record of 109-54, including a 36-6 mark as a senior. During his senior campaign, he won the Humboldt Invite, Westerner Invite, South Sioux Invite, War Eagle Conference Tournament and sectionals. He placed third at the district tournament, this past season. The two-time team captain and team MVP was a four-time sectional champion and was ranked as high as seventh in the state. As a freshman, he qualified for state and earned the team's hustle award. Aside from wrestling, DeRocher also played football and baseball and earned one letter in track. He was also involved in DECA at Hinton.
The son of Don and Tammy DeRocher plans to major in criminal justice with a minor in business. The honor student has been employed at Hy-Vee and the Le Mars Pool. He currently works at Deer Run Golf Course, in Hinton, Iowa.
