Briar Cliff University volleyball coach Mary Miller has announced that Monica Boeding, a first team All-Stater from Columbus Scotus Central Catholic High School has signed a letter of intent to play for the Chargers next fall.

"Monica will be an instant impact player in our program," said Miller.  "She comes from one of the most successful high school programs in Nebraska.  We look for great things from her.  With 371 kills her senior year, she is an explosive and dynamic player.  We are thrilled to have her join our program."

The 5-11 Boeding earned first team all-state and was named to the all-state tournament team in 2009 after leading the Shamrocks to their NSAA record 14th  state championship.  She was also named to the All-Nebraska second team.  The left side hitter had 23 kills in the state championship match as Scotus defeated No. 1-ranked Grand Island Central Catholic.

As a junior, Boeding was a second-team all-state performer as Scotus knocked-off Grand Island Central Catholic to win the Class C-1 Nebraska State Tournament Championship.  Boeding is one of 24 players who have been selected to play in the Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game in July.  The National Honor Society member was an all-state basketball selection and was a state qualifier in track.  The daughter of Mark and Janice Boeding plans to major in accounting at BCU.
