The Briar Cliff University men's basketball team will open its 2008-09 season with an exhibition game at the University of Notre Dame. The game will be played at 9 p.m., Oct. 31, at the Edmund P. Joyce Center, following a football pep rally at the facility.

"This is a great opportunity for our team and our program," said Briar Cliff head coach Todd Barry.  "It is one of those experiences which don't come around all that often.  We are pleased and excited about this opportunity."

The Chargers have plans to attend the Notre Dame-Pittsburgh football game the following day. The Chargers are coming off a 22-12 campaign, while the Fighting Irish posted a record of 25-8 last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Washington State. The Irish are 35-0 at home over the past two seasons, including a 17-0 mark last year. The Chargers are scheduled to open their regular season, Nov. 4, against York College, at the Newman Flanagan Center on the BCU campus.
