The Briar Cliff men's tennis team finished eighth at the third GPAC qualifier of the year, at Firethorn Golf Course, in Lincoln, Nebraska.  The Chargers shot a 338 and were paced by Bill Keane, who finished with a share of sixth place.
Keane fired a 40-38-78, bettering the course average for the GPAC competitors of 86.6.  BCU's Brett McCarville shot just under that average with a 41-45-86.  Gene Williams and Tyler Gibbins each finished with an 87.  Williams went 45-42, while Gibbins went 42-45.  Jeff Demers rounded out the Chargers' scorers with a 47-42-89.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan won the team title with a 310, seven strokes ahead of Dakota Wesleyan and 10 strokes better than Northwestern.  Northwestern's Luke Vermeer earned medalist honors with a 34-37-71.
 
The GPAC men's golf title is decided based on finishes at the four qualifiers throughout the year, two in the fall and two in the spring.  Morningside leads the GPAC Golf Championships with a 54-hole 927.  Vermeer leads the individual race with a 54-hole 220.  Keane is fifth going into the final qualifier of the year.  Keane has a 232 after 54 holes.  He has registered a 71, 83 and 78 in the three qualifiers thus far. 
 
GPAC Men's Golf Qualifier No. 4 will be played Tuesday, May 4, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The University of Sioux Falls will host the qualifier at Elmwood Golf Course.
 
The top two GPAC Men's Teams (excluding Nebraska Wesleyan who plays NCAA Division III for the Postseason), along with the medalist, will advance to the NAIA Men's National Golf Championships in May.
