The Red Raiders of Northwestern shot well from the field (54.7 percent) and even better from three-point land (58.8 percent) in a 91-83 victory over the Chargers of Briar Cliff in the semifinals of the NAIA Div. II Women's Basketball National Championship. 
The Chargers managed to shoot only 39.5 percent from the floor, including 36.4 percent from beyond the arc.  The Chargers never gave up and kept the game close by forcing the Red Raiders into 26 turnovers.  The Chargers outscored the Red Raiders, 34-28 in the paint, but the Red Raiders owned a 42-30 advantage on the boards.
 
All 10 Chargers that saw the floor, scored.  Liz Grider and Morgan Brown led the way with 20 and 19 points, respectively.  Likeisha Dotson chipped in nine points, while Megan Salcedo added eight.  Michelle Determan and Christa Stewart each tossed in six, while Kylie Dilla and Kelsey Evans finished with five apiece.  Kela Cihak and Britney Below contributed three and two, respectively.
 
Northwestern was led by Becca Hurley, who finished with game-highs of 28 points and seven assists.  She also pulled down eight rebounds.  Randa Hulstein produced a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Kendra De Jong added 14 points and seven caroms.  Val Kleinjan and Kami Kuhlmann rounded out the Red Raiders' double figure scorers with 12 and 11 points, respectively.    
 
The Chargers ended their 2009-10 season with a 28-8 record and the program's third trip to the national semifinals.  The 28 wins are the most for the program since the 1998-99 team produced an identical 28-8 mark.  Northwestern improved to 30-5 with the victory and will face Shawnee State in tomorrow's 9 p.m. championship tilt.
