Liz Grider tossed in 36 points and led Briar Cliff to an 81-62 triumph over Cedarville in the second round of the NAIA Div. II Women's Basketball National Tournament.  With the win, the Chargers improved to 27-7 and advanced to the elite eight round of the tourney.  The Chargers will play the Wolves of Cardinal Stritch, at 8 p.m., tomorrow. 
Grider was 11-27 from the field and also pulled down eight rebounds.  The Chargers shot 33.8 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from downtown.  Megan Salcedo (10 points) led the Chargers on the glass with nine caroms.  The Chargers outrebounded the Yellow Jackets, 56-54.
 
Kela Cihak chipped in eight points for the Chargers, all in the first half.  With the Chargers leading 21-17 with 3:53 left in the first period, Cihak scored six-straight BCU points, giving the Chargers a 10-point cushion, their largest lead of the game to that point.  Kylie Dilla and Likeisha Dotson each added seven points in the game.  Morgan Brown, who tallied 22 in the tournament opener, had six.  Michelle Determan added four points, while Christa Stewart had two and Kelsey Evans had one.
 
The Jackets shot only 17.1 percent from the floor in the first half and 27.3 percent for the game.  They were 5-30 from beyond the arc for 16.7 percent.  Alison Lemon led the Jackets with 13 points, while Aubrey Siemon registered a 10-point, 15-rebound double-double.  Cedarville's season came to a close with a record of 27-6.
 
In eight national tournament appearances, the Chargers have advanced to the quarterfinals six times.  They have reached the fab four, twice, most recently in 2002.
 
Cardinal Stritch advanced to the quarterfinals with an 86-74 victory over Davenport.  This is the Wolves' 14th national tournament appearance, but only the second time they have made it to the quarterfinals.  Their other quarterfinal experience came in 2006.  Cardinal Stritch is 30-2 on the season and has won 19-straight games.
