In their return to the national tournament, the Chargers upended the Hawks of Holy Names, 87-65.  The Chargers opened the game with an 11-0 run and never looked back.
Morgan Brown led the Chargers with 22 points.  She was 8-14 from the field, including 3-4 from three-point land.  Liz Grider tossed in 20 points, while Megan Salcedo pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.  Kylie Dilla and Kelsey Evans added nine points apiece, while Kela Cihak finished with eight.  Britney Below, who suffered a concussion, chipped in six points.  Salcedo had four points, while Michelle Determan and Alexa Phipps each had two.  Likeisha Dotson and Christa Stewart rounded out the scoring for the Chargers with a point apiece.
 
As a team, the Chargers pulled down 73 boards, outrebounding the Hawks by 15.  The Chargers shot 33.3 percent from the field and from beyond the arc.  The Hawks shot 25.9 percent from the floor, including 23.1 percent from downtown.  The two teams combined for 70 turnovers, as the Chargers forced the Hawks into 37 miscues.
 
The Hawks were led by Lesley Vodicska and Suman Bains, who tallied 19 and 13 points, respectively.  Vodicska, who pulled down nine boards, also led the team with five assists and five steals.
 
With the win, the Chargers improved to 26-7 on the season and advanced to the second round of the NAIA Div. II Women's Basketball National Championship, which is being held in Sioux City.  Briar Cliff will now face Cedarville at 7 p.m., tomorrow.  Holy Names' season came to a close with a record of 23-10.
