Missed free throws and turnovers were the key as Midland Lutheran shocked Briar Cliff, 69-62, in Fremont, Nebraska.  The Chargers were 7-18 from the charity stripe and committed 18 turnovers as they finished the regular season with a record of 21-8 (12-6).
Briar Cliff managed only 17.6 percent (3-17) from three-point land and a season-low 38.9 percent from the free throw line.  The Chargers did, however, outshoot the Warriors, 45.6 percent to 41.8 percent and held a 38-37 advantage on the boards.

Matt Geelan shined for the Chargers, producing a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double.  He also handed out six assists.  Geelan was the lone Charger to reach double figures.  Kyle Swanson finished with eight, while Chase Vander Feen, Eric Rohe and Kyle Semprini each contributed seven.  James Larson and Michael Collison each chipped in six, while Jared Clement and John Engler finished with two apiece.

The Warriors were led by Jason Ahrens and Alex Knobbe, who finished with 17 and 14 points, respectively.  Zach Rosenboom added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

With the upset, the Warriors improved to 5-25 on the season and 3-15 in the conference.  The GPAC tournament will begin Tuesday with a rematch between these two teams at the Newman Flanagan Center.  Game time will be 7 p.m.
