The Briar Cliff men's basketball team topped crosstown Morningside, 61-55, at the Newman Flanagan Center on the campus of BCU.  Chase Vander Feen and Matt Geelan led the Chargers with 19 and 16 points, respectively.
Vander Feen was 5-11 from the field, including 5-7 from downtown and 4-4 from the line.  He scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half.  Meanwhile, Geelan was 7-9 from the field and handed out a team-high five assists.  James Larson tossed in eight points for BCU, while Ben Sitzmann finished with six.  John Engler contributed four points, while Kyle Semprini and Eric Rohe each added three.  Semprini, the Chargers' leading scorer on the season, was just 1-9 from the field, including 1-7 from three-point land.  His one trey gave the GPAC's three-point leader 100 on the season, an on-going school record.  Michael Collison rounded out the Chargers' scorers with two points as he was 1-1 from the field.
 
The Chargers, who led 30-29 at the break, shot 44.4 percent from the field for the game, while the Mustangs managed only 34.3 percent.  The Chargers also dominated inside, outscoring the Mustangs, 32-14 in the paint.  The Mustangs won the battle of the boards, 38-35, and were three better in the turnover department (11-14).
 
Adam Palmer was one of two Mustangs to reach double figures as he finished with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.  Mitchell Schultze added 10 points and six rebounds for the visitors. 
 
With the victory, the Chargers improved to 21-7 overall and 12-5 in conference play.  The Chargers will close out the regular season, Saturday, at Midland Lutheran.  Morningside fell to 11-17 (5-12).
