NAIA No. 7 Briar Cliff made a run late to force overtime, but in the end, No. 11 Morningside came away with an 85-76 victory at the Newman Flanagan Center, on the BCU campus.  The battle of two nationally-ranked teams featured 11 lead changes.   
Early on, the game was a back and forth battle until Morningside opened up a 13-point lead by halftime.  The Mustangs led 35-22 at the break and continued to lead for much of the second half.  The Chargers hung around, forcing four turnovers in the first four and a half minutes of the second half to cut the Mustang lead to four.  Morningside responded with a 17-6 run, pushing their lead to 15 with 9:54 to play.  The Chargers then cut the deficit to two with 2:54 remaining. 
 
For the game, the Chargers shot 40.3 percent from the field, while the Mustangs shot 40.0 percent.  From three-point land, BCU was 2-18 (11.1 percent), while M-side was 11-35 (31.4 percent).  Morningside owned a 52-46 advantage on the boards and forced Briar Cliff into 34 turnovers.  The Mustangs had 31 turnovers of their own.
 
Liz Grider, who had only two points in the first half, finished with a game-high 28.  She was 11-13 from the line in the second half and 13-17 overall from the charity stripe.  Megan Salcedo added 18 points, while Michelle Determan had 10.  Salcedo led the Chargers on the boards with nine.  Kelsey Evans contributed six points, while Britney Below and Kela Cihak added four points apiece.  Kylie Dilla and Christa Stewart each finished with a basket, as did Morgan Brown.
 
Tanaeya Worden led the Mustangs with 22 points.  Roni Miller and Chelsie Trask each finished with a dozen, while Brittany Williamson added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.  Morningside's bench tossed in 38 points.
 
Morningside improved to 18-10 overall and 11-6 in the GPAC with the victory.  Meanwhile, Briar Cliff slipped to 23-6 (12-5).  The Chargers will wrap up their regular season, Saturday, at Midland Lutheran.
