Chase Vander Feen poured in a career-high 32 points and was 8-9 from three-point land in a
78-55 upset win over NAIA No. 16 Sioux Falls. The Chargers shot 59.3 percent for the game, including 60.0 percent (9-15) from three-point land.
The Chargers shot 50.0 percent in the first half and led 38-29 at the break. The blue and gold put the Cougars away in the second half, hitting on 69.2 percent of their attempts.
Vander Feen was 12-17 from the floor and was followed in scoring by Matt Geelan and Kyle Semprini, who each tossed in 10. Geelan led the Chargers with nine assists and four steals, while Semprini grabbed a team-high five rebounds. Ben Sitzmann, James Larson and Eric Rohe added six points apiece, while Michael Collison and Kyle Swanson each contributed four.
With the victory, Briar Cliff improved to 19-7 overall, 11-2 at home and 10-5 in the GPAC. The Chargers will host the Tigers of Doane, Saturday. Sioux Falls is now 20-8 (11-5).
