The field included 18 teams, including seven of the eight GPAC teams which support the sport; Briar Cliff, Dana, Dakota Wesleyan, Hastings, Morningside, Northwestern and Sioux Falls. The field also included Augustana, Bacone, Buena Vista, Dickinson State, Grand View, Iowa State, Minnesota West, Oklahoma City, Southwest Minnesota State, Wayne State and York. Several of these teams are nationally-ranked including; No. 8 Dana, No. 9 Grand View, No. 11 Dickinson State, No. 13 Oklahoma City, No. 17 Morningside and No. 19 Northwestern. Hastings and Dakota Wesleyan were each receiving votes in the latest NAIA ratings.
