Sam Acheamong, a sophomore sprinter with the Briar Cliff track team ran away with this week's Gunderson's Jewel of the Week Award. Acheampong, hailed as Briar Cliff's "Fastest Man," cruised to a pair of school records at Saturday's indoor track meet.
Acheampong set new school records in the 55m (6.36) and 200m (22.44) at the Graphic Edge Open, hosted by Buena Vista University. Acheampong won both events, edging fellow Chargers in both races. While he has already qualified for nationals in the 55m, his time in the 200m also provisionally qualified him for the event at the national meet.
