Josh Rogers and Matt Solomon led the Chargers to a seventh place finish at this year's GPAC Wrestling Championships, hosted by Morningside. Rogers went 2-1 and finished fourth at 133, while Solomon went 2-2 at heavyweight.
The Vikings of Dana won the meet with 136 points, including titles at five different weight classes. Morningside was second with 99.0 points, while Northwestern was third with 91.5. Dakota Wesleyan was fourth (41.5), while Hastings and Sioux Falls finished fifth and sixth with 40.5 and 34.0 points, respectively. Briar Cliff finished with 19 points, 12 more than first-year Concordia.
BCU's Sammy Johnson (165) went 1-1 before a back injury forced an injury default. Zack Mullins produced a 2-2 record at 149. Damien Eichelberger and Mike Weaver each went 1-2 at 174 and 285, respectively. Ethan Johnson (141), Ben Taylor (157) and Cody Osburn (174) each went 0-2. Two Chargers have already qualified for nationals; Mullins (149) and Johnson (165).
A year ago, as a freshman, Johnson earned second team all-GPAC honors after finishing second at the conference meet at 165. Mullins went 0-2 at 141. As a team, the Chargers finished fourth at last year's GPAC Championship.
