The Briar Cliff wrestling program will send nine athlete to compete in Saturday's GPAC Champiopnship, hosted by Morningside College. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
The Chargers, under the direction of head coach Damon Clayborne, have already qualified two wrestlers for nationals; junior Zack Mullins (149) and sophomore Sammy Johnson (165). A year ago, as a freshman, Johnson earned second team all-GPAC honors after finishing second at the conference meet at 165. Mullins went 0-2 at 141. As a team, the Chargers finished fourth at last year's GPAC Championship.
 
This season, Johnson leads the Chargers in wins with an 8-4 mark.  He also leads the team with 17 takedowns.  Mullins is one win back at 7-5.
