The Briar Cliff women's basketball team climbed three more places to No. 7 in this week's NAIA Div. II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Chargers are coming off a 2-0 record last week, including a victory over previous No. 7 Mount Marty. The Chargers are 17-3 overall, which is already the program's most wins in a season since the 2001-02 squad went 21-13. Davenport (Mich.) still remained the top team in the country, followed by GPAC leaders Hastings and Northwestern. Indiana Wesleyan, Cedarville and Jamestown are also ahead of the Chargers in the rankings. Two of the Chargers' three losses have been to top five teams. NAIA No. 2 Hastings defeated Briar Cliff, 91-81, Dec. 12 and No. 3 Northwestern defeated BCU, 118-105 in overtime, Jan. 2. The Chargers' other loss was a 77-68 loss at Sioux Falls, which was ranked at the time. The Chargers have won four-straight, eight of their last nine and 11 of their last 13. The Chargers, who are 9-1 at home this season, will host the third-ranked Northwestern, at 6 p.m., Wednesday.
