Briar Cliff senior outside hitter Alex Anstine has been named a first team all-Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball selection for the second time in as many years. Anstine was a second team selection as a sophomore and an honorable mention choice following her freshman campaign. This past season, she led the Chargers with 363 kills and was second with 502 digs and 23 ace serves.
Geri Heimann, a senior middle hitter, earned second team all-conference honors for the second year in a row. Heimann paced the Chargers with 23 solo blocks and 112 total blocks. She was second only to Anstine with 285 kills. Sam Bock, a senior libero, earned honorable mention all-conference accolades after producing a team-high 596 digs. She averaged 4.8 digs per set. Anstine, Heimann and Bock each played in every set during the course of the 2009 season.
The Chargers of head coach Mary Miller finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 18-17 and a conference mark of 9-7. The Chargers won a second round GPAC tournament game over Dakota Wesleyan before falling at Doane in conference quarterfinals.
