The BCU volleyball team will host Dakota Wesleyan, at 6 p.m., tonight, at the Newman Flanagan Center on the campus of Briar Cliff University, in the first round of the GPAC Postseason Volleyball Tournament. The Chargers, the tourney's sixth seed, are coming off a victory over Nebraska Wesleyan and own a record of 17-16 overall and 9-7 in the GPAC.
Dakota Wesleyan, seeded 11th, will bring a record of 13-22 (2-14) into the match. The Chargers have been led this season by the arms of senior hitters Alex Anstine (343 kills) and Geri Heimann (259 kills). Inglish Hartwig has handed out 751 assists, while Allison Holtgrewe has 275. Libero Sam Bock leads the squad with 556 digs, while Rikole Santin's jump serve has resulted in a team-best 42 aces. Heimann leads the team with 21 solo blocks and 104 total blocks. The winner will advance to the GPAC quarterfinals to play at third-seeded Doane, Saturday. During the season, the Chargers defeated the Tigers, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-17), Oct. 3, in Mitchell, S.D. The Chargers are 4-5 at home this season, but have won two-straight in the NFC's friendly confines, including an upset win over nationally-ranked Dordt.
The match will be broadcast on the Charger Sports Network with a pre-game show beginning at 5:50 p.m.
