The Charger volleyball team wore its pink uniforms tonight as part of "Spike Out Cancer" night, sponsored by Peak Performance.  The result, however, was not what the Chargers had hoped for.  Midland Lutheran upset Briar Cliff, 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22).
Alex Anstine led the Chargers with 19 kills, while Nicole Hoogeveen finished with 10.  Inglish Hartwig handed out 23 assists, while Allison Holtgrewe finished with 22.  Geri Heimann registered a team-high six block assists.  The Chargers are now 13-13 overall and 6-4 in the GPAC.  Meanwhile, the Warriors are now 1-9 in the conference and 5-14 overall.

At the beginning of the match, each BCU player and coach were announced as playing in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of someone who lost the fight.  The team also honored its coach, Mary Miller, who herself is a breast cancer survivor.
