The Briar Cliff volleyball team suffered a 3-1 road loss at No. 21 Morningside this evening with the Chargers falling by set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 18-25. The loss sent the Chargers to 13-5 overall and 4-5 in conference play, while the Mustangs improved to 15-8 overall and 7-3 in the GPAC. 

Briar Cliff hit .136 in the contest with 47 kills and 28 errors on 140 attacks, compared to Morningside hitting .356 with 51 kills and only 16 errors on 136 attacks. The Chargers also had 43 assists, six service aces, 54 digs and 5.0 blocks while the Mustangs had 47 assists, four aces, 49 digs and 10 blocks.

Two Chargers had double-digit in kills with Keely Woods and Courtney Schafer both notching 11 K's. Toni Beck was on the fringe of figures with nine and Emily Sanburg had six kills. Delaney Meyer handed out 22 of the team's 43 assists and Laura Barry had 17 helpers. Meyer also paced the team in aces with four. Breanne Hankins recorded a team-high 14 digs and Katie Berg trailed her with 11 digs. Olivia Tomlin, Sanburg and Kiaya Alderson all had two blocks.

Jenn Buyert paced Morningside in kills with 14 and Emma Gerber added 13 K's. Callie Alberico had 41 assists and Nikki Oberfoell piled up 22 digs.

Briar Cliff will begin a three-game home stand next week, hosting Dakota Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
