Women's Soccer - Wed, Oct. 4, 2017

The Briar Cliff women's soccer team suffered a 5-1 loss at Faber Field today at the hands of Concordia. The loss dropped the Chargers to 6-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the Bulldogs moved to 8-2-2 overall and 4-0 in the GPAC.

The game was scoreless through the first 30 minutes of play but Concordia then exploded to score three goals in less than seven minutes to jump ahead 3-0 over the Cliff. Kaitlyn Radebaugh scored the first goal for the Bulldogs and also buried her second goal three minutes later before Maria Deeter capped off the scoring explosion with her first goal of the game. The contest would still be 3-0 heading into halftime but after the break Taylor Beaulieu got the Chargers on the board at the 48:44 mark to make the score 3-1. The Bulldogs would prove to be too much though, as Sami Birmingham scored two goals of her own later in the half to make the final score 5-1 in favor of Concordia.

Briar Cliff was outshot 18-7 in the matchup and Concordia also held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Libby Havenridge suffered the loss at keeper for BC with eight saves and five goals allowed with Lindsey Carley notching the W for the Bulldogs with two saves and one goal allowed.

Beaulieu paced the Cliff in shots with three, followed by Brenna Oliver with two and Grace Hanno and Maddie Neal both attempted one shot. Beaulieu had the lone goal of the contest for the Blue & Gold.

Birmingham led the Bulldogs with eight shots, trailed by Deeter and Radebaugh with three shots each.

Briar Cliff will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday, heading to Yankton, South Dakota to clash with Mount Marty. Kickoff between the Chargers and Lancers is set for 1 p.m.
