The Charger women's soccer team stumbled 2-0 to the No. 19 Broncos this afternoon in Hastings, Nebraska. Hastings improved to 8-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Briar Cliff dropped to 6-4 and 0-2 in the league.

Both Briar Cliff and Hastings went scoreless in the first half and headed into the break tied at 0-0. The Broncos came out firing in the second half and Gabriella Didio found the back of the net for the game-winner in the 61st minute off a double assist from Kylie Stephens and Allie Beberniss. Hastings added an insurance goal in the 86th minute when Heidi Bartsch scored off a double assist from Janine Lahey and Stephens. The final score of the match was 2-0 in favor of Hastings.

Hastings outshot the Cliff 21-1 and held a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Broncos also claimed the advantage in corner kicks 13-1. BC was charged with four penalties, compared to three fouls for HC. Hastings was called off-sides on three occasions, while Briar Cliff was not called off-sides in the contest.

Makenna Taylor had the lone shot and shot on goal for the Blue and Gold. Libby Havenridge racked up six saves to go with two goals against. Briar Cliff also piled up five team saves in the match.

Berkley Sharp was the most aggressive Bronco with eight shots, trailed by DiDio with five scoring attempts. Lexi Harris was the winning keeper, playing all 90 minutes and earning one save.

Briar Cliff will host Concordia on Wednesday. The Chargers and Bulldogs are scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m.
