Breanne Hankins of the Briar Cliff women's volleyball team has been named the Hauff Mid –America Sports/GPAC Defensive Player of the Week. Hankins helped the Chargers improve to 9-0 overall this season after going 5-0 last week with sweeps of Mayville State, Grace and McPherson and 3-1 victories over Dakota State and Waldorf. 

Hankins piled up 99 digs throughout the week, averaging 19.8 digs per match and 5.8 digs per set. She had three games with at least 20 digs and her lowest total of the week was 17. Her high of the week was 23 digs against Waldorf, which is also her new season-high. Hankins leads the Chargers in digs this season with 159 and averages 5.13 digs per set, which ranks 35th in the nation.

Hankins and the rest of the Chargers will look to keep their undefeated season alive on Wednesday night with a conference opening road match against the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan with opening serve at 7:30 p.m.
