The Briar Cliff women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to nine games to begin the season, improving to a perfect 9-0 with victories over Waldorf and McPherson at the CSM Invite in Omaha, Nebraska. The Chargers defeated Waldorf 3-1 in four sets and capped the invite with a 3-0 sweep over McPherson. 

Briar Cliff began its day with a 3-1 win over Waldorf by set scores of 25-17, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-11. The Chargers outhit the Warriors .200-.081 with 49 kills and 23 errors on 130 attacks, while Waldorf had 36 kills and 25 errors on 135 attacks. Briar Cliff also notched advantages in assists (49-29), service aces (7-5) and digs (62-47).

Courtney Schafer and Toni Beck both reached double figures in kills with Schafer leading the Chargers with 15 and Beck added 12 K's. Melissa Ditter was third in kills with eight. Delaney Meyer dished out a team-high 26 assists and Laura Barry came up with 18 assists. BC had four players with at least eight digs with Breanne Hankins leading the squad with 23, followed by Brooklyn Tolliver with 11, Katie Berg with nine and Olivia Tomlin with eight. Kelsey Kanaby and Barry both had two aces. Teerstyn Johnson paced the Cliff with four blocks.

The Chargers then faced the Bulldogs in their final game of the CSM Invite, sweeping McPherson by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18. Briar Cliff's defense held McPherson to a negative hitting percentage at -.008 with 21 kills and 22 errors on 119 attacks as the Chargers had 7.0 blocks. Comparatively, the Charger offense hit .193 with 40 kills and 18 errors on 114 attacks. Schafer was again in double digits with 11, joined by Emily Sanburg with 11 as well. Ditter was again third in kills with nine.

Briar Cliff accumulated 32 assists in the victory, thanks to Meyer handing out 18 helpers and Barry had 12 assists. Hankins was the team leader in digs with 20 more and Tolliver also had double figure digs with 10 as 11 of the 12 Chargers that played in the match had at least two digs for a team total of 60. Tomlin and Beck shared the team lead in blocks with four, followed by Johnson with three rejections.

Briar Cliff will open conference play on Wednesday night with a road contest at Dakota Wesleyan. Opening serve is slated for 7:30 p.m.
