The Chargers had their chances in a
21-14 loss at Midland Lutheran. It was Briar Cliff's 14th consecutive road loss dating back to 2006. The Chargers scored first in this one, as Zac Kliment blocked a Warrior punt and returned it for a touchdown.Between the two teams, three touchdowns were scored in the first quarter and only were scored after that. The Warriors outgained the Chargers on the ground, 183-96, while the Chargers held the advantage through the air, 108-75.
Ryan Hajek started under center and was 1-6 for a lone yard. Lehi Tonga took the majority of the snaps for the Chargers, going 9-19 for 107 yards and a touchdown. Tonga was also intercepted twice, with the final pick coming in the closing seconds as the Chargers were driving. Andrew Prohaska led the Chargers' ground game with 46 yards on nine rushes. Defensively, Eric Bolin led the Chargers with 12 tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss. With the loss, the Chargers fell to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the GPAC. Midland Lutheran remains unbeaten in the conference (3-0) and improved to 3-1 overall.
