The Briar Cliff softball team dropped both games of today's GPAC doubleheader at No. 10 Morningside with the Mustangs defeating the Chargers 8-0 in six innings in game one and 8-0 in five innings in game two. The Cliff slipped to 8-19 overall and 2-6 in the GPAC after the losses, while Morningside improved to 23-6 overall and 5-1 in league games.

Morningside outhit BC 10-0 in game one, scoring three runs in the first, three runs in the third and two more in the sixth for the 8-0 win. Summer Williams suffered the loss for the Chargers, pitching 2.2 innings and Ciara Dotzler also pitched 3.0 innings for BC.

In game two, the Chargers were outhit 7-3 but four errors by the Cliff attributed to the 8-0 win by Morningside with two runs each in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings. Dotzler was tagged with the loss with one strikeout in 3.0 innings pitched with Williams and Claire Fischer also pitching for BC. Danielle Ishii, Ashley Del Alto and Madison Deane all had one hit for the Cliff.

Briar Cliff will look to rebound on Saturday when College of Saint Mary comes to Bishop Mueller Field. The Chargers and Flames will faceoff in a conference doubleheader with game one at 1 p.m.
