Briar Cliff senior baseball players Chris Davis and Cody Davis have been recognized by the Great Plains Athletic Conference as first team all-GPAC selections.  Three other Chargers (senior pitcher Charlie Benz, sophomore pitcher Kasey Neumann and freshman first baseman David Kowal) garnered honorable mention honors. 

Chris Davis has been a four-year starter for the Chargers.  He was one of only two players to play in all 53 games for the blue and gold this past season.  The second baseman hit .353 this past season and led the team with 59 hits, 48 runs, 43 walks and 16 stolen bases.  He also registered six doubles, two triples and three homeruns.  Cody Davis emerged as the season went along.  He hit .355 with 44 hits, 27 runs, nine doubles and 32 RBI. 
 
Benz was 6-5 on the mound for the Chargers with a 6.19 ERA.  He threw a team-high 56.2 innings and struck-out 32.  Neumann had an impressive 2009 campaign.  He made 13 appearances and produced a 4-1 record with a 3.78 ERA.  Kowal hit .357 and registered a team-high 55 hits.  He also had 32 runs, 36 RBI, eight doubles and three homeruns.
 
The Chargers finished the 2009 season with a record of 25-28 and produced an impressive 10-3 record at Bishop Mueller Field.  They went 13-11 in conference play and earned the sixth seed for the conference tournament.  There, the Chargers went 2-2, with both losses coming against eventual champion Dakota Wesleyan.
