The BCU softball team was one of the final three teams playing in the 2009 GPAC Softball Championship alongside Morningside and Hastings.  The sixth-seeded Chargers lost to No. 4 seed Hastings, 8-0 and then dropped a 2-1 heartbreaker to top-seeded Morningside.  Morningside and Hastings both advance to the NAIA Softball National Championship.
Against Hastings, the Chargers were held to only one hit as the Broncos exploded for 11.  Jessica Horton produced BC's hit as she went 1-2.  Camille Cruz lasted only 2.2 innings into the contest and allowed five runs on eight hits.  Tarah Colt finished game, allowing three runs on three hits.  Hastings' Chelsey Woodside threw a complete game one-hitter and registered seven strikeouts.

Facing Morningside in their first elimination game of the tournament, Chargers struck first and led 1-0 until the fifth inning.  Morningside loaded the bases in the fifth, but could only plate one run.  After the Mustangs scored in the top of the seventh, the Chargers loaded the bases with one out, but were unable to score the equalizer.  Camille Cruz went the distance for the Chargers.

The Chargers finished the season with a record of 22-19.
