Briar Cliff's 2009 regular season came to a close with a split at Dakota Wesleyan.  The Chargers dropped game one, 3-2 and trailed early in game two before rallying for a 9-6 decision.
All three of the Tigers' runs in the opener came off homeruns by Ika Watson.  Watson had a one-run blast in the second and a two-run homer in the fourth.  The Chargers produced two runs on seven hits in the game.  Tarah Colt and Megan McCarthy each had two hits for the Chargers.  Camille Cruz suffered the loss on the mound after giving up three runs on seven hits.  She registered eight strikeouts in the contest.
 
In game two, the Chargers rallied from a 5-1 defecit to pick up a 9-6 decision.  McCarthy led the Chargers in game two with two hits (including a three-run homer in the sixth), two runs and four RBI.  Tana Colt was 3-4 with two runs and an RBI and Jessica Horton was 3-3 with two runs and an RBI.  Reagon Anthony earned the win on the hill, while Cruz garnered the save after three innings of relief.
 
The Chargers finished the regular season with an overall record of 20-17.  In the GPAC, the Chargers finished sixth with a 12-10 mark.  The Chargers are the sixth seed for the GPAC Softball Championship, which will begin Wednesday, at the SYA Softball Complex, in Sioux City.  The Chargers will face third-seeded Concordia, at 2 p.m., Wednesday.  The double elimination tournament will conclude Friday.
