Briar Cliff freshman Adnan Kasapovic took the mat for the final match of the evening with his team holding onto a slim 24-22 lead. Northwestern's Brad Hughes led the heavyweight match, 2-1 in the third period before Kasapovic recorded a takedown and pin at the 6:11 mark. The victory for Kasapovic brought the corwd to its feet and wrapped up a 30-22 win for NAIA No. 19 Briar Cliff over 17th-ranked Northwestern.
The Chargers opened the dual by collecting 12 points off a pair of forfeits at 125 and 133. BCU sophomore Zack Mullins then gave the Chargers a 15-0 cushion with a 5-0 victory at 141. The Red Raiders responded with a major decision by Levi Price at 149. Freshmen Jeremy Garvin and Sammy Johnson then picked up wins to extend the lead to 24-4. Northwestern then won three-straight matches, two by fall and one by injury default, closing the gap to 24-22. With the victory, Briar Cliff improved to 2-7 on the season in duals, while the Red Raiders fell to 1-5.
