Men's Indoor Track and Field - Sat, Mar. 2, 2013

It was a historic day as Augustus "Raheem" Cowan stood atop the awards stand at the 2013 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships.  Cowan, a sophomore, had just won the triple jump title with a leap of 49-07.25.  Cowan, who wore his lucky Cookie Monster socks, entered the event as the No. 1 seed.  He left as only the second Charger to ever claim a national title, in any sport.  Briar Cliff's other national champion was track star Sharline Maxwell.  Senior Cory Hollamon also earned all-American honors in the triple jump, finishing eighth with a jump of 46-08.00.  As a team, the Charger men sent four athletes to nationals and each and every one of them returned as an all-American.
