Briar Cliff won its third-straight game with an 88-63 women's basketball victory over William Penn in its 2008-09 home-opener. The Chargers improved to 3-2, while the Lady Statesmen are now 3-3. After leading by eight at the half, the Chargers outscored the Lady Statesmen, 55-38 in the second period. The Chargers shot 51.4 percent from the field in the second half after shooting only 32.3 percent in the first. Samantha Pearson led the Chargers with four-three pointers and a game-high 23 points. Megan Salcedo finished with 20 points.
