Playing without several offensive starters, Briar Cliff dropped its season finale to Nebraska Wesleyan, 9-6, in overtime.  The Chargers outgained the Prairie Wolves, 276-198.  The Charger defense stepped up and held the Prairie Wolves to only 73 passing yards.  They also managed to keep the Prairie Wolves out of the end-zone.  The Prairie Wolves settled for three field goals, the last of which, in overtime, proved to be the game-winner.
Senior Ryan Prather and junior Jarrod Makovicka each recorded 11 total tackles on the day to lead the BCU defense.  Senior Brennan White had the Chargers' lone sack.

The Chargers fumbled on their opening possession of the game, giving the Prairie Wolves the ball on the BCU 15-yard line.  The Charger defense held and Zach Egger laced a 30-yard field goal.  On their next possession, the Chargers drove to the NWU 30 before their drive stalled.  On BCU's fourth possession of the game, the Chargers went 85 yards on 10 plays.  Junior Ryan Hajek scored on a 10-yard run with :25 left in the first quarter.  Nebraska Wesleyan tied the game on a 25-yard field goal with 4:23 left in the third.  With 1:22 left in the fourth, the Chargers missed a 32-yard field goal attempt, wide left.  In overtime, Egger kicked a 25-yard field goal and then the Chargers failed to get in position to attempt a field goal of their own.

The Prairie Wolves improved to 7-3, while the Chargers' 2008 season came to close with a 2-9 overall record.
